Additional Information | This pastry print would be used to make fancy cookies like Springerle, a Mennonite Christmas delicacy. The rectangular piece of wood is scored in twelve sections, each with a different incised design. Dough is placed over it and rolled to get imprints of the designs, then cut and baked. Excerpt from exhibition text: Just for Nice: German-Canadian Folk Art, May 1993 to September 1995.
