| Additional Information | A long, white baptismal dress made of cotton, that is hand and machine-sewn. Bodice and skirt are decorated in tape lace that is held in serpentine rows by crocheted edging. Bodice has a square neckline, short puffed sleeves, all edged with the serpentine tape lace. Triangular inset on front bodice consists of alternating bands of gathers and tape lace edged down sides with feather-stitched bands with tape lace edging. Long back opening extending into skirt; two button closure; ties at neck and waist may be missing. Skirt is gauged into a narrow waistband. Triangular section on skirt front is edged with feather-stitched and tape lace bands. Between the bands, the skirt has alternating sections of six tucks, tape lace, six tucks, tape lace, six tucks, tape lace, six tucks, and a wider band of tape lace and six tucks above a narrow hem. Last series of six tucks, tape lace, and eight tucks continue around to the back of the skirt. This gown was said to have been made by Mrs. Frederick James Paul (Mary-Alice MacKenzie) of Scotch Hills, Danville, Quebec. It was noted that there was some similarity between this gown and gown B-241 a-b (catalogue number). The reason for this may be that there were MacKenzies on both sides of the family. Mrs. Harris and her husband were distantly related, and the pattern may be one that was passed down from one family to the other.
